Image Guidelines

File sizes: There is no maximum size limit. 300 dpi 5" x 7" is optimal. All files should be 1200 x 1600 pixels, 300 dpi minimum. Anything smaller will be automatically rejected.

Color space: We recommend Adobe RGB (1998) since it has become a standard among professional photographers and creative pros.

You must own the copyright to any image you upload. You must be the photographer or artist that created the image. Uploading photos/artwork that belongs to somebody else will result in a suspended account and may have legal ramifications.

All trademarks and logos must be removed. This includes brands and entities with copyright or trademarked elements. This may also extend to trademarked products such as toys, sculptures, architecture and other elements of design. We check copyright with each image.

Keywords and descriptions: Be descriptive when entering keywords and descriptions. Include at least 10 keywords (maximum 40) and use a title that's more than one word (i.e.. "home" or "car"). More keywords means your image will match more searches. Photos with more keywords have more chance of selling.

Image quality: Z Stockphoto reserves the right to reject any image according to following criteria: poor composition, pornographic, violent, racist, or illegal content. Image quality is the most important criteria of image selection. Imagescontaining the following defects will not be accepted: under/over exposure, out of focus, subjects too far in distance, chromatic aberration, poor framing, saturation, contrast, noise, pixilation. Imagess containing the following items will not be accepted: borders and frames, additional text, artistic blur.

Model releases: images with clearly visible face(s) require a model release form for legal reasons. Parent or a legal guardian must sign for all children under the age of 18 years.

Property releases: images with copyrighted designs or architect need to have property release, an example of it Getty museum. You can't post an image of this building without a property release.

Post Processing and image manipulations: While we encourage improving your images by adjusting the basic features such as Levels and Curves, we recommend keeping the sharpenning of your images to a minimum. Many photo buyers prefer to do the sharpining based on their taste or requirements.

What to shoot: Everyone shoots animals and landscapes, but we want: people, high tech, business settings, teamwork situations, medical, team work, groups of business people,court rooms, groups of people, communications, people working at home, ethnic people groups, having fun, healthcare, health and beauty images, doing chores at home, interiors, ethnically diverse people, holiday occasions, classic landmarks, educational, people, friends, e-commerce, flat-panel monitors, people with animals or their pets, sports, network images, agriculture, red barns, travel images, technology.. These are the stock images that sell!
